Behaviour & Rewards

Behaviour

Our school vision:

At Landulph we are proud to be part of a school where children and staff are inspired to learn, challenged to do their best and encouraged to succeed.  We have high expectations of what our children can achieve and strive to inspire all children to develop a love of learning, so they make good progress and attain their very best, becoming confident and successful individuals in our ever-changing world.

In our school community, we believe learning comes first and we are all committed to the following values:

Honesty                                   Friendship                               Loyalty                        Respect

Our Positive Behaviour Policy is a guide for all members of the Landulph community to create a restorative and relationship focused approach to behaviour management. This will allow the children to be supported emotionally as well as educationally and to nurture mutual respect, giving them the best possible chance of success.

The policy sets out to promote a calm, nurturing and caring environment where the expectation of high standards of behaviour is reinforced by all staff members. Pupil are taught to take responsibility for their behaviour and support others to do the same. Consistency and clear, calm adult behaviour underpins this policy.

Rewards - Houses and House Points

House points form our whole school reward system here at Landulph.  It encourages a team ethos across the school and encourages children of all ages to have a common goal.   We understand that rewarding children for achievements, conduct, demonstrating our school values and effort is a crucial part of enabling our children to learn.

All of the children are sorted into one of our four houses and remain in this house throughout their time at Landulph.

The children are able to earn house points from any adult in school and they either put a gem in the jar (in Class 1) or record it on the house point charts in Class 2 & 3.  The house points are collected each week by the house captains and shared in assembly.  The winning house each term receives a treat – every child from across the school in the house group comes together to celebrate their achievement.

We also use our house teams for house assemblies, sports days and other activities within school.  This gives a sense of belonging and competitiveness.
